Apple has launched Ping, a social media service that ties into iTunes allowing users to follow musicians and friends.
Ping will be tied into Apple’s next update for iTunes software and will allow users to follow musicians and friends and receive information such as what music they are listening to or what concerts they attending in a stream similar to Facebook or Twitter. People are sharing everything on Facebook: what they’re doing, where they’re going, what music they’re listening to and photos from all these various activities. As the maker of one of the devices (camera phones) that facilitate such sharing, Samsung Mobile has created a new application that promotes even further sharing, while walking the line between social game and social utility.
The game, called “Thr!ve On,” is available through Samsung’s Facebook page, and is intended to add to the number of things people are already sharing on Facebook (status updates, photos and videos), by compiling all of these updates into a custom-build environment. As users add more items through the application, it builds a profile of colors and images that better defines the users (say, as a sports fan). Nokia’s new Mozzaker Application
Nokia recently announced the launch of a new range of mobile applications and content tailored for the holy month of Ramadan. Mozzaker – a Ramadan application is available on Ovi Store to enhance the Itikaf experience. This updated mobile application tailored for the Holy Month can be downloaded on the compatible Nokia devices for free directly from Nokia’s Ovi Store.
Mozzaker allows mobile users to listen, search and translate a large collection of daily Azkar and selected supplications. People can also download more Azkar and share via SMS and MMS with friends and family.

KFC has launched a multichannel mobile program that includes an application sponsorship, banners and SMS advertising.

Text-message advertising startup Placecast
is partnering with Location Labs
to potentially extend the reach of Placecast’s ShopAlerts service to over 180 million potential consumers in the US. Location Labs offers developers an API that gathers location data from carriers such as AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile.
Location Labs’ API will be used for Placecast’s ShopAlerts, which are location-triggered mobile text messages sent from brands to consumers. Consumers can opt-in to receiving text messages in a variety of ways—at the store, online, via text-message, mobile websites or on Facebook. ESPN is preparing to launch a mobile phone application offering video footage of every Premier League goal “usually within minutes” of it being scored. The app, titled ESPN Goals, features a basic service offering news and live scores, which is free-to-download. However, the full video clips package will cost either £3.99 a month or £29.99 for the whole season.

The new restaurant concept, founded by former music exec and Urban Box Office CEO Adam Kidron and Michael Shuman, banks its success on hyper-connectivity and healthfulness.
Customers place their orders through iPads—or online, before they even walk through the doors.
