A new recent campaign created by MacLaren McCann gained a lot of publicity and hype for offering a pretty cool outlook for an online gaming experience. The ARG campaign for the launch of Halo 3 ODST had a offered completely well developed and seamless online / offline experience for fans that included a guerrilla style scavenger hunt with viral videos, hidden clues, encrypted messages, GPS coordinates, custom Google maps, real world locations, interactions and sms communication.

The Campaign had a winning prize attached to it. The idea was that if all the clues were sought and completed then the winner would actually be getting a VIP ticket to the launch party! The campaign built a fair bit of hype online in Canada and the video above is a quick case study showing the results. A great example of how an interactive experience can be brought offline with great effect.
