Ufone & Zong Engage in Viral Marketing

Advertising campaigns by telecom companies are all the rage these days. It seems they are the only ones left with enough money to even buy media space anymore. Lately, they seem to be going after each other aggressively, especially after zong opened up operations in the country.

Recently, Zong set up an MNP campaign which aired all over the place. The campaign was centered around the following group of TVCs.

Losing To The Social Web: Visualized

End-Of-Standard-Websites
A brands website has been the single biggest ”online” focus for 99% of businesses over the last 10 years apart from banner campaigns and microsites here and there, but with the evolution of social media growing at unheard of rates (Twitter is up over 3500% alone this year, while Facebook increased over 700% to finally overtake MySpace and then turned them to dust!) businesses really need to think about what’s happening to their website traffic…

Pantene – ‘Phone Call’ Campaign!

Objective: Increase awareness of Pantene’s ‘damage repair’ concept and drive emotional bonding with consumers.

Solution: A unique integrated creative approach involving simultaneous use of internet and cellular technology where the user got a call from a super-model. Interaction with target audience began on the banner. The banner had a teaser message from the celebrity model Shiraz Tal who asked the user for her cellphone number in order to give her a call. The user filled in her details and immediately received a call from Shiraz, who had a friendly ‘chat’ with her. The user received the perfect illusion of a true conversation with Shiraz who appeared on her computer screen and simultaneously spoke to her on the phone. When the voice session ended the user also got an sms from Shiraz with a cellular ‘coupon’.

The Nokia 5800 craze : Giant Mobiles and Fakes

Nokia-5800-XpressMusicThe craze behind Nokia’s 5800 Express Music isn’t dying any soon. Here we have a giant 5800 that has invaded Antwerp and another copy of the 5800. The Antwerp display allows bystanders to interact with a giant screen and shows off the phone’s capabilities. The fake mobile is yet another creation from NOKLA, who have shamelessly copied each and every creation of Nokia’s.

The Nokia Store in Antwerp is showing a working touchscreen version of the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and has triggered a touch-a-thon from passersbys. The blow up of the 5800 XpressMusic enables pedestrians to interact with the device and explore its talents, including Maps, browsing photos and listening to tunes, all whilst stood on the pavement.

The interface has been developed by a company which specializes in touchscreen called  Visual Planet and has been marketed by Creative Multimedia. According to them, the hardware used was an iWindow Interactive foil combined with their unique daylight technology which gives awesome result even in bright sunlight.

Facebook a friend to small businesses

Charles Nelson, president of Sprinkles Cupcakes, doesn’t have a Facebook profile. Nelson, who works seven days a week, has no time for chatting online with Facebook friends.

But Nelson is logged on to Facebook all the time. That’s because more than 70,000 people have declared themselves fans of Sprinkles’ Facebook page, which is at facebook.com/sprinkles.

Facebook_920_19427911_0_0_7045512_300Each day on the site, Sprinkles announces a secret word, such as “ganache” or “bunny,” and the first 25 or 50 people to show up at any of its five stores around the country and whisper that word get a free cupcake.

“On Facebook, we can ask our customers what’s the next location they want,” Nelson said. “What do they think of our next flavor? It’s an amazing way to communicate with our fans.”

Facebook is not just for friends anymore. The free social networking site — blocked in some workplaces as a potential time-waster — is increasingly becoming an inexpensive marketing tool for small businesses.

Blog Marketing: Territories Undefined

The internet marketing, although still a novel phenomenon compared to its conventional counterpart, has been in use quite heavily in the developed world since dot.com boom of the late 1990s. In Pakistan, however, things have only just begun to kick start. With the recent growth in broadband penetration and the rising popularity of social media (Blogs, Facebook and Twitter et all), more and more advertisers are beginning to realise the untapped potential of e-marketing, particularly via blogs. Blog marketing, like other forms of web marketing, offers many features that conventional advertisements in the broadcast and print media don’t.
